Chocolate

"Chocolate" is a beautiful and suggestive film. It is a French film but the language that is spoken in film is clear English and not so fast. So, you will be able to enjoy it if you are a beginner in English.
ChocolatesIn the early twentieth century, in a small country village in France, an unmarried woman who has a child arrives there and opens a chocolate shop. The woman and her child do not go to church every Sunday. All of the people who live there are Catholics, especially the mayor. In the past, women could not work and had to follow their husbands or fathers.Additionally, to have children without marriage was not allowed.
The mayor tries to make the woman and her child go away from the village. Although he says bad things to people about her behind her back, her chocolate and personality are opening up their conservative minds and they feel freedom. Also, she becomes free from herself, she is able to find her life in the village.
Though the theme is not easy, the English is not so difficult. You will be able to enjoy it without understanding a lot of difficult words. In addition, the English is pronounced very clearly, you will be able to understand their English easily. It is highly enjoyable.
English learners who are mature are sometimes disappointed, because the theme is too easy for them. They sometimes have a dilemma between their English skills and the theme. This film will just fit you if you would like to study English more but you are bored by study at home. You will be able to understand their English and the theme. This film will inspire you, like it inspired me.
The film shows the beautiful French countryside too, many trees, a clean river and old stone buildings. The theme is powerful, it shows two things, repression and freedom. I grew up in Japan and I am not Catholic, so I may not understand Catholicism but we had some similar situations inJapan.
This film makes you inspired and satisfied. If you practice your vocabulary before the film you are sure to enjoy it even more.

Mulan

I like to watch animated movies and my favorite Disney movie is Mulan.
This is a story of old China. One day, Hum soldiers were going to invade through the Great Wall of China. Then, the Chinese emperor made an order to collect soliders to protect his country.
Mulan was a girl in China. Her father had to join the army as a soldier but his foot was wounded. Mulan didn't believe he could survive the war. Then, she decided to disguise herself as a boy and joined the army.
This scene helped me decide my course. Before coming to Australia, I was troubled if I should come here to study English or get a job. My feeling at that time seemed to be same as hers when she was worried of her father. I was moved at her preparedness and encouraged. Then, I decided to come to Australia at last.
Then, she made a merit in the army but soldiers found out she was a woman, so she was left on a mountain. Nevertheless, she decided to help them when they were involved in some trouble. Then, she became a real heroine.
I was also moved at this scene, too. If I had been her, I wouldn't have done such a thing.
I have considered such kindness to make a better relationships with other people. I would like to watch this movie again and I would also like to recommend it.
