Horse Racing in Melbourne

The reason why I love horseracing is that it is very exiting. I have been horse racing many times, for example last Autumn I went horseracing every Sunday in Japan. Of course, I won overall. But I prefer watching the race to betting.
In Australia, horse racing is very famous, because it is the only country to have a national holiday for horse racing (Victoria). That is the Melbourne Cup, which is the biggest race in Australia. In Victoria, there are several racecourses and they have the Spring carnival (oct~nov). A lot of big races are held in this term. It is as big as the tennis and F-1. However it is very difficult for me to tip the winner here, because there is not enough data. Nevertheless, I think horseracing is really nice. And I am sure I will go to the Melbourne Cup.

Why don't you go horse racing in Melbourne?

A Melbourne Racecourse

On 6th of November, the 2001 Melbourne Cup is held!! I will give you info about how to get there. Have fun!
Flemington Racecourse is just 6km from the city. The Met has Raceday special trains that terminate inside the course grounds. Trains depart from Flinders Street. The journey to the racecourse platform takes approximately 15 minutes.

Footy

The most interesting thing I've seen in Australia is footy. The first time my housemate's sister told me about this sport, all my imagination is that footy is a violent sport. . If you turn up the Television to watch a footy game, you can see many strong players shoulder away to catch the ball. They pull other people's clothes or push them to occupy a good place to catch it. They even step on others' shoulders to get a higher place. What violent action it is!
However, after I watched a footy game in the MCG, something in my mind changed. The more I know, the more I appreciate. Instead of thinking it as a violent sport, I'd rather think of it as a combination of power and beauty. Beside the violent actions, the fast speed, the skills, and the brain of footy are also very important. In addition, could you imagine that seventy thousand people are cheering or booing at the same time? I think that is what the players' power comes from.
When it comes to Aussies, I think, footy must be mentioned!

It is well known among a good number of international students that getting a good IELTS score is the dream of many of them. In addition to future plans, this can be a very positive motivation to dedicate more quality time to improving English skills. But also a low IELTS score might cause a loss of confidence in your abilities in this language.
Nevertheless, while two possibilities are influencing your life as a student, there are other factors that are important to consider. I mean that there are a lot of factors, which have an influence in your desire of getting a good IELTS score. To mention some on them, I would like to star with time, which plays a vital role because it is important to remember when you are developing skills with time and hard work you will be able to be a good English user. Meanwhile, the examiners are people following very objective criteria although they need to do interpretations about your skills, especially in writing and speaking. Furthermore listening and reading have their own difficulties. For example, the famous YES, NO or NOT GIVEN are very hard (especially the last one to judge whether it is given or not) and it is important to remember that this sort of examination is made and tested before becoming a real examination in order to make a quite exhaustive evaluation of your English skills.
One of my challenges during IELTS class was to write a task without any mistakes. I mean by this, when the teacher checked an essay and gave me feedback, the task would be without corrections. Of course this never happened but I understood that usually the teachers write others suggestion to you in order to give you more ideas.
I would like to finish saying: do not worry too much, it is just a test, very important but not life-threatening. Maybe you can do the same just with a little more time. Also, never lose your confidence in English because you will lose everything. Remember we are responsible for our own development. So, keep working and do not forget it is necessary to spend a lot of time working hard
